It’s later: Restaurant at American Family Field finally gets its name

After 29 months operating as the Restaurant to Be Named Later, the eatery at the Milwaukee Brewers' home field is giving a break to fans who had to trip over that lengthy name when suggesting a place to grab a bite.

Now, they can just say, “Meet me at the Barrel Yard.”

Technically, the area just beyond the left-field fence will be called J. Leinenkugel’s Barrel Yard, as the Brewers revealed Monday afternoon during a press conference with the Wisconsin-based beermaker at American Family Field. The partners also shared a handful of renderings that give us an idea of what the space will look like when it opens this coming March.

The Barrel Yard will include walk-up counter service featuring Leine’s established lineup of beers, plus a tap reserved for seasonal rotations. Several brewing tanks and other equipment are in a space adjacent to the counter area, giving customers the chance to see where their suds came from as the working brewery cranks out specialty selections only available on-site. The partners shared two of those selections at the unveiling Monday afternoon: Brew City Pale Lager and Hot Stove Rye.

Besides the beer counter, there’s plenty of room for the restaurant experience to carry over, with ticketing options for those who want an ideal view of the field while they chow down. Between the counter and full-service bar in the restaurant, there's room for 48 beers on tap.

Renderings for the restaurant side of the Barrel Yard and menu details weren’t immediately available, but we’ll provide updates when they are.
