A missing dog named Bananas was found safe Wednesday thanks to the efforts of a Milwaukee neighborhood Facebook group.

A user named Amanda Marie posted a call for help in the East Side Neighborhood group around 1 p.m. that her dog had run off while they walked along the Oak Leaf Trail near Riverside High School. She said Bananas had been scared by the sound of a test siren.

About an hour later, group member Juan Salter posted a photo of a dog without a collar, matching the description of Bananas. Dozens of fellow group members alerted Amanda to the post. Bananas had been found! The pup had traveled more than a mile from where she ran off.

In response, one East Sider made light of the situation in true Facebook comment fashion: "Good work! Glad to see a happy ending," he said. "Now we can go back to arguing about traffic and bike lanes!"
