On this week’s show, we talked about the upcoming culinary exhibit Global Kitchen at the Milwaukee Public Museum. We also had a discussion about the James Beard Awards, Chocolate and more.
Global Kitchen - Food, Nature Culture at Milwaukee Public Museum
A new traveling exhibit will be coming to the Milwaukee Public Museum beginning March 3. The exhibit is called Global Kitchen: Food, Nature Culture. More people are becoming more interested in where their food comes from thanks to various show like Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, Netflix’s series Cooked and more. This new exhibit will give visitors a unique hands-on experience to explore the complex food system from farm to plate.
The exhibit is divided into several sections: growing, transporting, cooking, eating, tasting, and celebrating. Visitors will learn how tastes works in the working kitchen, cook a virtual meal, and take a glimpse into famous figures’ dining rooms. Besides the main exhibit, Milwaukee Public Museum will host several events, and classes.
James Beard Awards
The culinary equivalent of the Oscar’s, the James Beard Foundation has announced the semifinalists for the 2017 awards. Three of the semifinalists for Best Chef Midwest are from Milwaukee. Also, one Milwaukee restaurant is one of the semifinalists for the Outstanding Restaurateurs award. View the semifinalists here.
