The transit hub that never was

It's basically empty all the time. - Bobby Tanzilo, OnMilwaukee.com Managing Editor

The Downtown Transit Center is a huge building at the intersection of East Michigan Avenue and Lincoln Memorial Parkway, but has been underused since its opening in 1992.

Originally intended to be a changeover station for buses, along with a passenger station, the chairs are empty, the escalators are switched off and the schedule monitors remain black.

But that will all change in a few months when construction begins on the Couture Center, which will be home to apartments, a hotel and several retail locations.

An Urban Spelunking first, OnMilwaukee.com's Bobby Tanzilo joins Nate Imig on-location in this episode.
