Inside one of Milwaukee's oldest skyscrapers

via OnMilwaukee

Built as a self-proclaimed monument to the man whose name is on the door, the Wells Building in downtown Milwaukee is one of the city's oldest skyscrapers.

Completed in 1901, the tower is an early example of steel-frame construction in Wisconsin.

The 15-story office tower has traditionally served as a communication hub, at one time home Western Union, and today, including tenants like Verizon, AT&T and Sprint.

But as OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo discovered, there's more to see behind the walls than miles of winding communications cables.  He found a few "secrets" shedding light on the building's early history.
