A vacant Milwaukee hospital building is seeing substantial redevelopment and will soon serve those in need.
The former site of St. Anthony's Hospital at 10th and State streets will be converted into 60 "supportive housing" units by October.
In collaboration Chicago-based Heartland Housing, the apartments will be open to those who have struggled with homelessness or incarceration.
Unlike other housing programs, tenants can stay there indefinitely, providing they meet certain criteria.
The hospital has been closed since 1988.
