One of the most noticeable developments underway now in downtown Milwaukee is the redevelopment of the Warner/Grand Theater, a combination of renovation and new construction, set to open in 2020 as the future home of Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

The historic theater at 2nd St. and Wisconsin Ave. dates back to 1930, when it opened as an art deco movie palace, similar to the Oriental and Avalon theaters.
Every inch of the building's interior was decorated with intention and opulence, complete with golden ceilings, grand crimson carpeted stairs and hand-painted murals.

Since 1995, the theater has been vacant. But last year, crews began the work to transform it.
