Massive transformation planned for Harbor District grain silo site

This week on Urban Spelunking, we're (somewhat) back out in the real world, talking about a massive development coming to the Harbor District in Milwaukee.

Mandel Group is working transform the site of a former grain silo along the Milwaukee River into a sprawling four-building mixed development. The $150 million project includes new construction to be used for housing, retail and a hotel on South Water Street, south of Pittsburgh Avenue.

But first, the old grain silo (and other buildings around it) needs to come down, a massive undertaking given its sturdy, cement construction. OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo visited the site of The Harbor Yards to get one last look at the silo before it's gone forever.
