At a time of year for tippling, there are places for those who go without alcohol

As the year starts winding down, holidays like Thanksgiving allow many of us to pause and take a breather, including the team at Uniquely Milwaukee. So it seemed like the perfect time to revisit one of our most-listened-to episodes from earlier this year about what it’s like to be sober in America’s drunkest state.

For people like the ones you hear on this episode, it isn’t always easy to relax at this time of year. There’s a lot of socializing — reconnecting with old friends, holiday parties, etc. — and in Wisconsin that usually means alcohol is around.

But sober living is possible, even when the calendar and the place you live don’t cooperate. This episode of Uniquely Milwaukee is proof. Back in April, we visited a Racine bar that’s unlike any other in the area and talked to patrons who appreciate the atmosphere that includes everything but the alcohol.

We also met Emily Meyer, Seth Eby and Jason Gonzalez — three Wisconsinites who made the decision to cut back or cut out alcohol from their lives. Enjoy the episode below and the Thanksgiving holiday, regardless of what’s in your cup.
