These are some of the free masks that Milwaukee will be handing out

When the Milwaukee Common Council approved the city's mandatory mask requirement earlier this month, it also pledged to create a program to give free mask to any resident who requests one. The city will be supplying at least 300,000 masks, and while details about when, where and how they'll be distributed have yet to be announced, today we got our first glimpse at some of the masks.

Milwaukee Commissioner of Health Jeanette Kowalik tweeted a snap of the masks, which you can see below.

They look a good deal nicer than the bare-minimum, mass-produced masks you might have expected.

If you need a free mask now, however, you have some options, too. The Milwaukee Health Department is currently distributing free masks from the following locations.

  • Keenan Health Clinic – 3200 N. 36th St.
  • Northwest Health Center – 7630 W. Mill Road
  • Southside Health Center – 1639 S. 23rd St.

You may also be able to score a free mask at Milwaukee Citgo stations. yesterday VISIT Milwaukee and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce delivered 50,000 masks to 42 Citgo locations. They'll be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
