Birch + Butcher
Today, Milwaukee’s newest restaurant Birch + Butcher opens its doors to the public. Located at 459 E Pleasant St, Birch + Butcher is not only a restaurant but a retail store that sells baked goods, meats, sausages (provided by Madison’s Underground Meats), cheese and more. One of the unique things about Birch + Butcher is that it cooks all of its dishes in an open, wood-fired hearth.
Created by Executive chef/co-owner Miles Borghgraef, the menu at Birch + Butcher features Midwestern inspired dishes like:
- Beef Carpaccio*, Smoked Whitefish + Remoulade
- Sunflower Seed Risotto + King Trumpet Mushrooms
- French Onion-Stuffed Leeks
- Soft Pretzels, Whipped Cheddar + Pickled Jalapeno
- BBQ Parsnips, Chili + Yogurt
Brunch at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin
Beginning this weekend Taliesin in Spring Green Wisconsin will offer brunch April 29, 2018 at their Riverview Terrace Cafe. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Riverview Terrace is designed to serve as a restaurant for travelers and locals alike and to be the gateway to visiting Taliesin.
Brunch will be served Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am – 2 pm. Below is the menu.
Yokohama to introduce a new menu
On Nov. 22, Yokohama will introduce a full new menu. The new menu launch will coincide with their Sapporo release party which kicks off at 7 pm. Some of the features include:
- Fried Egg & Beer $8
sausage wrapped egg, pickled daikon, sesame dipping sauce, served with Sapporo, Miller Lite or Coors Light
- Okonomiyaki & Beer $12
savory pancake, pork belly, kimchi, kewpie mayo, furiyaki, “dancing” bonito, served with Sapporo, Miller Lite or Coors Light
Strange Town’s orange wine tasting event
On Nov. 22 from 7 pm – 11 pm, Strange Town will guide you through the oxidized, divisive, trendy, and weird-hued world of orange wines. These are wines not made from oranges, but white wine grape flesh left to ferment with their darker skins for varying amounts of time producing a wine typically orange-tinted and containing tannic elements usually found only in red wine.
They will have offerings from Channing Daughters (Finger Lakes, NY), Batic (Slovenia), Folk Machine (Wash/Ore/Cali), Faith Armstrong’s mighty Onward (Cali) and more. $20 gets you 2oz samples of 5x wines and a full-sized glass of whichever one you like best!
