Oooh Wee! Have I got a funky 6 o clock jam for you this morning! The BLACK EYED PEAS, at one time this group was my greatest hope for the future of Hip Hop. I spent a lot of time listening to Black Star, Common, The Roots and THE BLACK EYED PEAS in 2000 and 2001. As the sound and impact of pop rap changed on MTV and clear channel rap stations, Will.I.Am and the Black Eyed Peas took a hard right turn away from afro-centric positive raps and headed to the main-stream for a dose of Pop. I've had this argument many many many times with my best friend KID CUT UP, but this move turned me away from the Peas. Now in retrospect, I see that the genius production talents of Will.I.Am could not be contained in such a limited sound, but I sure did miss the sound of their debut album BEHIND THE FRONT.
