Freebie | The Constellations, "Setback (Kickdrums Remix)"

Most people know me to be humble. That doesn't mean I don't have an ego, especially when it comes to discovering new music. On this rare occasion, I have been beaming with pride. Why you ask? It is because of a band from my hometown of Atlanta by the name of The Constellations have been recently signed to a 4 record deal to Virgin Records, and are now creating a buzz. About two years ago on my blog Needledrop and radio show Rhythm Lab, I happen upon two tracks from this band on the blog Kiss Atlanta. I was floored when I heard the tracks, and started to play them on the radio show back in March of 2008. Then in September 2008, I featured them on my segment "Are You Feeling This" on 88Nine RadioMilwaukee. Then 88Nine RadioMilwaukee added the song "Were Here To Save The Day" and then two more tracks from their release Southern Gothic a few months later. Then Peter Adams decided to bring them to Milwaukee to Stonefly for their first show which sold out. They later played Summerfest, Jazz Estate, and Mad Planet with an amazing turnout.Fast forward to the present. The Constellations have finish touring with artists such as RJD2, The Greyboy All-Stars, and now they will be touring with the band Hockey, which we featured on New Music Wednesday a couple of weeks ago. They will be re-releasing Southern Gothic on Virgin on June 8th. The album was produced by Ben H. Allen who has worked with bands such as Animal Collective and Gnarls Barkley. They will be dropping their single, "Setback", in the UK real soon; however you can get free digital copy of it via their website. They also recently filmed the video for "Setback" and the date for release of it is TBA. Elijah Jones, The Constellations frontman, describes the album like this:

The album reflects the way Atlanta's music scene blends hip-hop, punk rock, and indie musical genres. The band's name refers to the myriad musicians from the regional scene who either contributed to making the album or have since played in The Constellations live band.

In the meantime, why don't you get taste of a remix done by the Kickdrums of the latest single from The Constellations. One more thing Milwaukee, it does feel nice for the rest of world to catch up to what we know about this band. The Constellations - "Setback (Kickdrums Remix)"
