Listen: More, more, more! Stop 5 of 9 on Cortney and Faith's Bodacious Journey -- the recently opened Madam Chino's Look Nook and Vanessa Andrew.
The amazing Fortress Building (100 E. Pleasant) is like a body whose internal organs are artists (or something like that). There are studios of every variety, with creation spilling from one space to the next. One of its newest operations is Vanessa's ultra-compact Madam Chino's Look Nook, a space packed with clothing, knick-knacks, and bric-a-brac, a whole array of Vanessa's creations and collections. A small space but a packed tour from Vanessa:
-All over town, Vanessa teaches folks to make clothing just like her. Take one of her classes, and maybe you can open your own Nook someday...
-All the artists we've spoken to work really hard both on their art and outside of it. Vanessa definitely hustles:
-Extras! Vanessa tells about her specialty -- t-shirt reconstruction: Want to take a look at Madam Chino's Look Nook yourself? Check her out on Facebook! Or Etsy! Or the blog! You can also read about her on Third Coast Digest or in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She's only open for one day a week (or by special appointment) and you need to get in there.
