Earlier this summer we met Jose, Cedric, and Tally of the Operation Dream Eagles, who were learning to play baseball for the first time as they compete in Beckum Stapleton Little League. They shared everything from their first uncertain moments to their greatest achievements. A few weeks later and across town at Fairview Elementary School, I met another group of youngsters figuring out their way around the diamond.
Trinity, Emily, and Miranda all participate in the Girl Scouts’ summer softball program. They’d spent two days a week at Wick Field honing their skills and spending time with their friends. Listen, as the girls of summer talk about their first forays into softball: see podcast below.
Isn’t that a good cheer? I think we might start using that one…
While they do a great job with softball, the Girl Scouts do a lot of other things too. If you’d like to learn more about what the Girl Scouts are doing in the Milwaukee area, check out their website .

And a special thanks to 88Nine Program Director Mark Keefe for recommending I use Sam Bush’s “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” and music from Field of Dreams to score the piece. Both selections worked just right.
