Don't Sleep On | Olivier Daysoul - Putting The Soul Back Into Soul Music

It is rare to find a stand out soul singer, but when you do it is something really special. D'Angelo, Raphael Sadiqq, John Legend, Angie Stone, and Alice Russell are some of those 'special' artists that breathe that old soul sound into 21st century music.  I like to introduce you to a relative unknown artist that can definitely fit that bill.  His name is Olivier Daysoul. Oliver is  a Washington DC singer/songwriter that has been making some noise as of late. He was featured on producer Onra's latest album "Long Distance" (I highly recommend you check it out). He is currently touring with one of my favorite producers/beatmaker out of Scotland by the name of Hudson Mohawke.  Oliver is breath of fresh air when it comes to the sometime boring realm of mainstream R&B.

Olivier has an EP dropping this Friday called "The Mr. Saint Louis EP", which was produced by fellow Washintonian Oddisee.  If you remember, 88Nine played a track by Oddisee featuring Nikki Jean, who did a show at Rochambo a few weeks back.  In the meantime you can grab a free track called "Labor" and let me know what you think.
