Today, Hip Hop lost a treasure. Michael "Eyedea" Larsen passed away today. He was part of the Rhymesayers duo Eyedea & Abilities.
One of the Twin Cities most beloved musical talents has passed away. Micheal "Eyedea" Larsen, a longtime Rhymesayer, singer, lyricist and fixture in the indie hip-hop scene died early this morning, just a month shy of his 29th birthday.

I briefly knew Eyedea when I live in Minneapolis. I first met him few years ago, when I was co-host of Groove Garden on KFAI in Minneapolis. He was an amazing artist, but more importantly, he was an amazing person. Eyedea & Abilities' music inspired people all over the country and even the world. The duo was part of the Rhymesayers crew since the beginning, and his MC skills and creativity with the spoken word could not be matched. He will be missed. Our prayers go out to his family.
Eyedea's mom, with whom he was very close (and who also was like a second mother to Abilities) has set up a memorial fundraiser via Facebook.
