Devon Smith, Program Specialist at Brown Street Academy's Boys and Girls Club, talks about his love of music, spoken word, college, poetry, art, and working with at-risk youth. Our meeting was serendipitous; he tracked me down on Facebook, and when I heard he writes his own poetry and songs, works for Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, AND is a youth leader (he's a mere 21 years of age), I knew this was as story worth exploring.
We met at my favorite local coffeeshop where he shared some of his original work, and his goals for the future (hint: they involve the music industry, but of course!)
