All City People's Parade and Pageant: Got Puppets, Floats, and Samba, Baby?/Neighborhood Project Week 7

Mix Emilio De Torre of the ACLU of Wisconsin, Bethamie Wyatt of Milwaukee Public Theater, along with various local artists such as Andrew Parchman, Jeffrey Holub, a cadre of local Milwaukee youth, social justice,  and a plethora of puppets, masks, floats, and..well..giant hands and you get The All City People's Parade and Pageant. The parade takes place September 5, right behind the Labor Day celebrations, and you can still get involved in the merrimaking and maskmaking and mirth.

The event is in its third year, and involves MPS schools, local artists who work collaboratively with young student/artists, and shared ideas and passion about social justice and equity.

Milwaukee pubic are encouraged to come down to the Grand Avenue Mall right by TJ Maxx and participate in the open workshops. You can help create a mask, a float, a giant Statue of Liberty, or hey, whatever you feel is connected to the event. I got to play with some enormous hands, ala Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips.
