Sound Travels this week is going cinematic with music from countries being featured in Milwaukee's premier film event-- The Milwaukee Film Festival. Yesterday, I featured some Ethiopian tunes and today we hit Italy with five tunes from not only Italian cinema, but also some Italodisco and even reggae.
The movies are the connection to this theme and there are a couple of films showing over the next couple of weeks that I would call Sound Travels picks; The Salt of Life, a comedy about an unsuave dude trying to sow his latter-day oats and sorta getting stymied in his efforts in interesting and comedic ways. Also, The First Beautiful Thing, a biopic film about a mother and her strained relationship with her son, looks as interesting as it seems to be deep and intimate. Check in with The Milwaukee Film Festival's site for times and synopses and peep the trailers here...
