Tropicadelic, Juju In The Cut

Sound Travels with a tropical vibe this week as I've been bringing the lush sound of African Juju this week. A sound pioneered in Nigeria and coming straight out the Yoruba music traditions. In fact, juju is derived from a Yoruba word 'jiju' which means 'throwing' or 'to pass along.' And passing it along is exactly what I'm doing here, giving you the tools to discover more on your own. In fact, l ikembe.com is an excellent (and local) resource to pick up some early, and deep juju music.

This is what we played today on the air...

Bob Ohiri & His Uhuru Sounds "Africa Is Free For Us" Uhuru Aiye

King Sunny Ade "Ja Funmi" Juju Music

Prince Nico Mbarga & Rocafil Jazz "Green Revolution" My Picking
