My Milwaukee Film Festival Picks For Day 9: Chasing Ice, and Nobody Else But You

It is the second weekend for the Milwaukee Film Festival, and this weekend are filled with visual treats.  For Friday night, I have two picks for you that will be a great kick off for your weekend.

Chasing Ice at Landmark Downer Theater @ 7:30PM

This has to be one of the best documentaries about the global warming issue.  Instead of charts and interviews with scientists, the film actually uses amazing video and photography to illustrate the effect of global warming.  Chasing Ice is about the National Geographic photographer James Balog and his attempt to gather visual evidence of global warming by photographing the changing landscape of the arctic called The Extreme Ice Survey.

Balog had been a skeptic about climate change. But that first trip north opened his eyes to the biggest story in human history and sparked a challenge within him that would put his career and his very well-being at risk...

With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

Nobody Else But You at Fox Bay Cinema Grill @ 9:15PM

What do you get when you cross Twin Peaks with a Pink Panther Movie? You get this funny French crime flick called Nobody Else But You. The film revolves around an apparent suicide of a beautiful cheese model by the name of Candice Lecoeur, who apparently think she is the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe.  Then crime novelist David Rousseau, who is looking for inspiration for his next novel, stumbles upon the mysterious suicide.  Rousseau believes that her suicide is not what it seems and starts an investigation, which leads to humorous results.
