Continuing with the Kenyan music this week on Sound Travels. Once again, the sound is rooted in the musical tradition of the Luo tribe and finds expression through a pretty modern guitar, bass and drum foundation expressed in uniquely Kenyan fashion. Fusing Congolese finger-picking guitar stylings with indigenous rhythms under lyrics sung in the ubiquitous Swahili language of the region, the music is irrepressably happy and still quite cool despite its vintage status.
