Walnut Way Rehabs Foreclosures

The foreclosure problem in Milwaukee is slowly improving, but if you walked around the Lindsey Heights neighborhood, you may not know it.  

It's an area of the city hit disproportionately hard by blighted properties.  And when people move out, so do businesses.  Even neighborhood essentials, such as a large grocery store offering fresh produce, have a hard time succeeding in the area.

But one non-profit is helping the problem.   Walnut Way Conservation Corp is attacking the crisis from both angles -- rehabbing foreclosures so they can be sold on the market, and establishing a sustainable food chain through urban agriculture.

Jeremy Davis of Walnut Way shows 88nine around the neighborhood and explains how the non-profit in converting properties from a liability to community asset.
