a.MKE: Anodyne expands, Metcalf Neighborhood wins, Today show changes and Vintage art stays 11.13.12

Residents of Manitowoc rallied to save iconic Anheuser-Busch murals that were in the process of being removed this week. The vintage, hand-painted ads have been a landmark there for nearly 20 years. Anheuser-Busch sold the plant in 2011 to Minneapolis-based Riverland Ag who agreed to preserves the 30-foot wide, 90-foot tall artwork.

Anodyne Roasting Co. plans to relocate it's roasting facility from Bay View to a 24,000 square foot industrial building on Bruce Street in Walker's Point. The new space will house a second cafe and a viewing area where customers could watch the roasting and packaging operations.

As reported by the Neighborhood News Service, Metcalf Park took second place in MPC's contest "Space In Between". The contest rewarded neighborhoods that have transformed vacant spaces into community assets. Fourty-seven projects were submitted from Chicago, northwest Indiana and southeastern Wisconsin.

NBC's "Today" show is making a big leadership change. The show has been consistently behind ABC's "Good Morning America" in rating since replacing Ann Curry this summer. Alexandra Wallace, veteran NBC News executive will oversee management of  the show as they search for a new executive producer.
