A new documentary about the famous recording studio Sound City directed by Foo Fighters' frontman and former member of Nirvana Dave Grohl will get a proper screening on January 31 at 7:00 PM at Landmark Oriental in Milwaukee.
The film, Sound City, was the brainchild of Dave Grohl after he purchased a recording console from the Sound City Studio located in Van Nuys, California. The console played a role in recording music from such artists as Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, Metallica and others over the past 4 decades.
"Through interviews with the artists and producers that created decades of musical history at Sound City, the film will showcase the amazing history of the studio, focus on the albums recorded there that went on to change the world, discuss the human element of music in an age of technology, and feature performances from many of the artists that called it "home".
Following the film's debut at this year's Sundance Festival, Sound City will be screened of one night only across the nation on January 31. An album will also be release in March in conjunction with the film. Here is the tracklisting:
