On this day in 1952, Joe Strummer was born. His music has influenced countless numbers of musicians and songwriters. This week on the Seven o'Clock Sample, we celebrate Joe's life and look at how his band, The Clash, have been sampled throughout the years.
In 1979, The Clash released LONDON CALLING. London Calling was a top ten album in the UK, and its lead single "London Calling" was a top 20 single. It has sold over five million copies worldwide and was certified platinum in the United States. The song "Guns Of Brixton" is one of my personal favorites.
This song was sampled, and re-imagined by Zion I & The Grouch on the song "Trigger".
