This week on the Seven O'Clock Sample, we are going to celebrate the music of Bill Withers. From his humble upbringing in West Virginia, Bill grew to become one of the most influential and successful song writers in Soul and R&B. His tunes have been sampled by several artitst over the years, and this week we will look at some of my favorites.
We start with Bill's 1971 single "Grandma's Hands". It was included on his 1971 debut album Just as I Am, and was also released as a single, reaching number 18 on the Best Selling Soul Singles chart and 42 on the Billboard Hot 100.
This great song was sampled by Dr. Dre for Blackstreet's hit single "No Diggity",
