It's hardly Halloween.
This is Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
It's a traditional Mexican celebration, honoring the lives of those who have passed. It begins on November 1st every year around the world, and for the last four years in Milwaukee, hundreds of people have participated in a parade through the Walker's Point neighborhood.
Unlike Halloween, the celebration takes a positive tone -- almost poking fun at death. People make ofrendas, or offerings, which decorate homemade alters in remembrance of their loved ones. Families honor them by eating and drinking the deceased's favorite foods and drinks.
It's certainly a celebration, not of death, but of life.
