The Milwaukee County Winter Farmers' Market (Formerly held at State Fair Park) runs every Saturday from 9am to 1pm at the Mitchell Park Domes, now through April 19th, 2014.
The market fosters a sense of community not only between vendor and shopper, but from one vendor to another. Maybe because we were all bundled up from the snowstorm outside, but I think it's more than that. There's something special about a collective of people coming together to support locally made products. Who wouldn't want to hear stories about what flowers the bees polinated that made that honey or how your local sausage maker comes up with their unique recipies or how the special gluten-free pancake mix from the local baker is inspired by a family reciepe.
If you are planning on coming to the Winter Farmers Market, feel free to skip breakfast. There's freshly brewed coffee, ready to eat breakfast foods made from restaurants that source their food locally, hot soups made from scratch and plenty of samples to try from all the vendors.
