As we get ready for Jolly Ol' St. Nick to visit us this Tuesday, I wanted to give you a Christmas sample three pack! Today we explored how a kid's Christmas tune, became a hip hop classic, and then that track became a Christmas song!
So we begin with a somewhat obscure holiday gem from the Sleigh Ride Jingle Bells album on Tinkerbell Records, here is the song "Santa's Birthday".
Those horns at the very start of the track, were sampled by the Fugees in 1994 on the song "Nappy Heads (Remix)".
Then, in 1997, the Fugees beats was used to create a new holiday hit. From the album A VERY SPECIAL CHRISTMAS VOL 3, check out this all-star cast on the song "Santa Baby".
