The New York Times has just posted a blog article about the Wisconsin Music scene with a piece to be published in the New York Times magazine this coming Sunday. The small blurb entitled “Winsome Rock Hits Wisconsin” makes reference to some of the staples of our music culture. Justin Vernon, S. Carey, Phox, and Field Report are singled out as the central figures. The article goes on to pose what they believe makes Wisconsin musicians so uniquely Wisconsin is their obliviousness to conform to what is “cool.”
Give the post a read and take a look at the fantastic portrait of the big names of Wisconsin music (photo credit: Konstantin Kakanias).
Are there any other artists that should be included in this “Rushmore” of important contemporary Wisconsin musicians?
