Jack White’s record label Third Man Records is located in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a long haul to their record store, but sometimes, the record store comes to you. Third Man Records has a rolling record store that tours the country, hawking Third Man’s wares to dedicated collectors who are willing to stand in line to get physical copies of the albums that they love. Yesterday, the rolling record store stopped at Acme Records in Bay View. We captured to collectors atmosphere in this video below. Check out what all the talk is about.
Of course, we couldn’t leave empty handed. I scooped up a live performance from The 5.6.7.8.’s. I got a 45 from The Prisonaires, a group that recorded for Sun records in 1953 while serving time in the Tennessee State Penitentiary. And I picked up Language Lessons, Third Man records first foray into publishing. It contains a book of collected poetry, short fiction, and non-fiction, multiple art prints, and two LPs of spoken work recitation and other sounds.
IF YOU MISSED IT, don't worry. The Rolling Record Store will be at Vanguard on Russell and KK in Bay View TODAY from 5-9PM.
