New 'pocket park' unveiled on Near West side

At a recent press conference, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and other city officials broke ground on a new small-scale public greenspace on the site of a former vacant lot.

The site at N. 28th St. and McKinley Blvd. will be developed, using mostly private funds, into a sustainable park in the coming months.

It is the most recent in a string of vacant lots being converted into public spaces around Milwaukee.
