A Night in Brazil
Celebrate Latine Heritage Month with a night of sounds, stories, and stars! UWM's very own Susana Antunes will take us to Brazil to explore the Guarani-Kaiowá cosmos through ancestral narratives and Indigenous constellations. The program closes with a tour of the night sky as seen from Campo Grande, Brazil.
Dr. Antunes is an Associate Professor of Portuguese in the World Languages & Cultures Department. She is also a 2026-27 Center for 21st Studies research fellow. Her current work is on Indigenous women filmmakers in Mato Grosso do Sul based in Campo Grande.
The program will include an indoor stargazing session of the night sky followed by the opportunity to ask questions., This event is open to the public. Not recommended for children under 4., No advance registration is required.
