Brunch of Books is Black Child Development Institute–Wisconsin’s annual family literacy celebration designed to bring children, parents, and caregivers together around the joy of reading. The event creates a fun and welcoming environment where families can enjoy books, engaging literacy activities, storytelling, food, and community resources.

A key goal of Brunch of Books is to help children build their own home libraries by providing them with free, age-appropriate books while also giving parents and caregivers practical tools to support reading and learning at home. The event combines literacy with family engagement, making reading an experience that children can enjoy both at the event and beyond.

Now in its 9th year, Brunch of Books reflects BCDI-Wisconsin’s commitment to ensuring Black children and families have access to books, resources, and enriching experiences that support their learning, development, and future success.
