Winter Break
Winter Break
Don’t Hibernate. Celebrate.
Winter Break is a free community festival dedicated to injecting joy into deep winter.
Now in its third year, Winter Break is bigger and cozier than ever, with even more to do both indoors and out. Go at your own pace, even if winter isn’t usually your thing. Try birdwatching with monoculars, sample teas, pet sled dogs and watch them mush, view a documentary on hiking the Ice Age Trail, test-drive a fat-tire bike, watch candle-making and fiber arts demos, or learn about pollinators in winter. Play the winter lawn game Kubb, go snowshoeing, follow a scavenger hunt for animal footprints, decorate a walking stick, commission fireside poetry, make your own birdfeeder, or just go for a walk in nature. Warm up by bonfires with s’mores and hot cocoa, and grab a bite from a food truck. All things wintry and cozy.
This event is designed for adults, but kids of all ages are welcome. Tickets are free, but you may want to bring a little pocket money because there will be some vendors and goodies on site.
For anyone who has difficulty navigating snow, ice, or uneven terrain, thanks to Access Abilities Wisconsin, an All-Terrain Wheelchair will be available on site. You can take it out onto the trails at Havenwoods and soak up some nature. Reserve a seat when you grab your event tickets.
This event goes on no matter the weather. Check the forecast and bundle up with your big jacket and puffy gloves. We only cancel in extreme conditions that make gathering unsafe, such as a blizzard or temperatures of −10°F.
