Indigenous Peoples were the first to live on this land. Later, waves of immigrants arrived, changing the community and creating the Milwaukee we know today. Examining immigration in Milwaukee offers a window into the larger American story.
For over 180 years, immigrants have shaped Milwaukee’s economy, neighborhoods, and culture. Waves of German, Polish, Italian, and Irish newcomers built businesses to grow the city in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their skills and labor established Milwaukee as a center of industry and craftsmanship.
As new generations arrive from Latin America, Asia, Southwest Asia and North Africa (also referred to as the Middle East), and Africa, they bring traditions, languages, and foods that continue to redefine what it means to be American. Milwaukee’s diversity can be seen in its restaurants, festivals, and neighborhoods. Here, the legacies of past and present immigrants come together to shape the future.

For over 10 years, we've been supporting local farmers, food producers and artisans, & creating a more sustainable community. Every week, the market is home to about 45 farmers and food producers, selling a first-class mix of produce, plants, cut flowers, bread and baked goods, award-winning cheese, coffee, waffles, popsicles, fish, meat and poultry, and prepared breakfast and dinner items. The first Saturday of each month, we also add a Makers Market, featuring a juried selection of local artisans selling handmade arts and crafts.

S.T.E.A.M. Saturdays at the H-D Museum ignite curiosity through hands-on exploration and motorcycle-themed innovation.

Ignite curiosity and creativity with our S.T.E.A.M. program, where the art and engineering of motorcycles take center stage! Through hands-on activities, guests explore the fascinating intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math through the lenses of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

To elevate the experience even further, we invite local S.T.E.A.M. organizations to lead activities and projects inside the galleries. From creative design challenges to engineering‑inspired builds, these rotating stations give guests even more ways to experiment, discover, and engage with S.T.E.A.M. concepts. Stay tuned for November's lineup!

Food Not Bombs Community Pantry is held every third Saturday of the month in the Jackson Park parking lot.

Free food pantry, household items, clothing, toys, hygiene. Hot/fresh food and coffee/water also available. Donations accepted and welcome, even on the day of the event.
