Will Jim Gaffigan ever leave Milwaukee?

Jim Gaffigan; Facebook

Comedian Jim Gaffigan has referred to Milwaukee as his “hometown-in-law” — a reference to his wife, Jeannie, who hails from the area. There’s an easy joke here about in-laws, but besides being hacky it simply wouldn’t apply considering Gaffigan’s planned stop in Milwaukee as part of his “Everything Is Wonderful!” tour is on the verge of devouring the entire month of April.

That’s a moderate exaggeration, although comedy fans’ response to Gaffigan’s visit to the Riverside Theater has been overwhelming. His appearance now stretches from April 9-13 and includes six shows, the latest of which was added Tuesday morning. Four of the options are already sold out, and only a few tickets remain for the 7 p.m. show April 9, resulting in the new slot at 7 p.m. April 13.

Gaffigan is two months removed from having released his 11th standup special, The Skinny, which is available on Hulu. Since moving to New York in 1990 to pursue comedy, he’s built a well-earned reputation as a reliable yet still evolving standup capable of pulling in sizable crowds on a consistent basis. His presence has also extended to the screen in a variety of shows and movies, including the well-received film Linoleum.

That wasn’t the only announcement from the Pabst Theater Group on Tuesday morning. The organization also revealed that Stop Making Sense, one of the greatest concert films of all time, will screen at the Pabst Theater on April 27. Presented by 88Nine, the evening will get a very special host in the form of Talking Heads keyboardist/guitarist Jerry Harrison.

Tickets for the latest addition to Jim Gaffigan’s Milwaukee visit and the screening of Stop Making Sense both go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. this Friday, Jan. 24.

Just when you thought PTG was done with the reveals, they went and brought back the $10 Buck Show as well! The series will make its return Saturday, Feb. 8, with a lineup topped by Collections of Colonies of Bees. The bill at the Pabst Theater also includes Field Report and recent Milwaukee Music Premierer Alicia Rytlewski, who will perform her debut album, When We Were Bears.

Those very affordable tickets are on sale now.
