Milwaukee’s concert scene has a lot going on, so we look at the shows coming up to find the ones you’ll look back on and be glad you went. Then we add them to our weekly Milwaukee Concert Picks.

Many years ago, in the before times, Radio Milwaukee joined the Pabst Theater Group in support of an idea. An idea that great music and a great deal aren’t mutually exclusive. They can work in harmony to create a concert experience that leaves your heart as full as your wallet.

These days, many of us don’t carry actual money in our wallets anymore. But we’re still eager to keep it as metaphorically full as possible while still sonically satisfying our souls.

All of that is to say the 10 Buck Show is back and has not been adjusted for inflation or real dollars or any other economic jargon. Just like back then, you can bring a sawbuck to the Pabst Theater this Saturday, Feb. 8, and enjoy a full night of live music — this particular installment involving Collections of Colonies of Bees, Field Report and Alicia Rytlewski.

If you need additional convincing beyond the price point, the musicianship that will take the Pabst Theater stage Saturday night is worth several times the actual cost of admission. CCB and Field Report have always demonstrated a willingness to shift and change their sound while still remaining in touching distance of what makes them … them. It’s lovely, adventurous music — characteristics the third member of Saturday’s bill shares.

We were lucky enough to help Rytlewski premiere “Ephraim” in the weeks leading up to the release of her debut album, When We Were Bears. The wordless composition has a transportative quality that stretches across the entire record, which she based on scenes and settings encountered across Wisconsin.

You can join her on that trip Saturday night at the Pabst Theater along with Collections of Colonies of Bees and Field Report for a price so enticing they put it right in the name.
