Beck will make a rare tour stop in Milwaukee this October

FPC Live

Considering how long Beck has stood as a stalwart of the alternative music scene, it’s kind of amazing he’s only played Milwaukee twice during his career. On Monday, he announced plans to make it three by visiting Landmark Credit Union Live on Oct. 6.

To give you an idea of just how long Beck has gone between visits, his first performance in Milwaukee came at something called “New Rock Fest,” which was held at the then-Marcus Amphitheater in 1997 — the year following his breakout album Odelay. By the time he returned to play the Riverside Theater, he had SEVEN more studio albums under his belt and was just a few months away from releasing 2017’s Colors.

Whatever his reasons may be for not frequenting Brew City, we’re just glad Beck will be back this October and that he’s got some new music cooking. “Ride Lonesome,” which dropped Monday,” continued his preference for releasing non-album singles. There may be some hope for a larger project, though, as he reunited with some key folks from his 2002 album Sea Change to create the new track.

Beck’s new tour shares a name with that single and will come to Landmark Live on Oct. 6, with tickets going on sale to the general public starting at 10 a.m. Friday, April 24. You can get those online via Ticketmaster and at the Landmark Live box office.
