With the delightful problem of having so many outdoor music series to choose from during the summer (and summer-ish) months, it helps when each of them find a particular spin to put on their offering.

For Lake Park Musical Mondays, the differentiator is diversity. The series from Lake Park Friends brings a unique cross-section of sounds to the Summer Stage every year, and the lineup for its 28th season — with a performance at 6:30 p.m. every Monday — continues that tradition:

  • July 6 — De La Buena, a 10-piece band with its own brand of Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz.
  • July 13 — Flow Tribe, a New Orleans group sharing their passion for the music of the Crescent City, including soul, funk, blues and rock.
  • July 20 — The R&B Cadets, Milwaukee’s longest-running supergroup playing danceable originals and covers.
  • July 27 — Laura Rain & The Caesars, a proud product of Detroit that delivers soul, R&B and funk covers from the Motor City’s greatest artists.
  • Aug. 3 — Buckets of Prine, a Door County supergroup that covers tunes from John Prine, Bob Dylan and more.
  • Aug. 10 — Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band, featuring the son of Zydeco pioneer Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural Sr.
  • Aug. 17 — The Kal Bergendahl Project Featuring Faith Hatch, a six-piece jazz-funk band with vocals from one of Milwaukee’s up-and-coming singers.
  • Aug. 24 — Mama Said String Band, bringing bluegrass and beyond from their Louisville home base to Brew City.

Lake Park Friends also announced details for their other summer series, the family-friendly Lake Park Wonderful Wednesdays, which carries over the 6:30 p.m. start time for its six shows:

  • July 15 — The Last Bees, presenting positive, uplifting melodies inspired by ’60s throwback artists like Megan Trainor, Greta Van Fleet and more.
  • July 22 — Branch & Co., featuring Milwaukee music scene veteran Will Branch and award-winning multi-instrumentalist Lil Rev.
  • July 29 — Main Street Dance, a high-energy show choir performing pop hits with choreography featuring young local talent.
  • Aug. 5 — Frogwater, a musical pair that presents everything from Celtic to Delta blues to pop.
  • Aug. 12 — Jen & The Jellyfish, featuring tunes from the classic album Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals and other family-friendly selections.
  • Aug. 19 — Little Miss Ann, a nationally touring musician with nine award-winning albums that inspire kids to sing, jump, dance and more.
