414 Music Live with Marielle Allschwang
Marielle Allschwang has spent the last six years providing vocals, violin, guitar, and percussion for various Milwaukee bands, including Group of the Altos, Hello Death, and Death Blues. She released her first solo album, Dead Not Done, last August on Gloss Records.
As a second-generation American, Allschwang's album tells not only personal stories, but the life experiences of her parents and grandparents, exploring feelings of sadness and strength, exile and identity. The album is rooted in American folk, but also experiments with late 20th Century avant-garde and noise rock.
