They went out with a bang in 2005, with a farewell tour, billed as such, with multiple nights in the markets where they did best, including two nights at Chicago's Abbey Pub (I attended both) and a three-night-stand at Bowery Ballroom, in their NYC home base. There was a great documentary "Tell Me Do You Miss Me?" which chronicled the final tour.
After a few short tours over the past 2 years, which came as close as Chicago, they've reconvened and will play Milwaukee for the first time in a decade plus. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon for Luna at Turner Hall, Friday November 3rd. Welcome back, Luna!
While Luna's original material is fantastic, they always cultivated a great stable of cover songs. Today they cover Donovan.
