Every week, 88Nine brings you a fresh track from a Milwaukee artist. They send it to us. We post it here. You hear it before everyone else.
For today's premiere, we've got a dance-floor-igniting jam from the Milwaukee electro-rock trio Clear Pioneer.
First impressions
Never ones to shy away from synthesizers, on their latest single Clear Pioneer look to the some of the disco's modern standard-bearers -- Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, Junior Senior -- dialing up their four-on-the-floor grooves to sexed-up extremes. It's an absolutely massive dance track, and it only grows more heated as it plays out, building to a lascivious guitar solo that's every bit as eager as those synths.
In the artists' words
After winning the Summerfest Emerging Artists Series, Milwaukee artist Clear Pioneer is set to release the single "Screen" on July 19, 2019. The trio's song uses old school samples and synths atop a groovy, polished beat to create a track which is at once strikingly familiar and completely unheard of.
The band has made the song catchy enough to stick in our heads and remind us to think twice as our minds sink into the screen-shaped abyss.
At the beginning of July they played the Johnson Controls and Radio Milwaukee sponsored Summerfest stage to an enthusiastic audience, featuring performances from Milwaukee musicians on flute, viola, keys, guitar and vocals. They will be headlining The Cooperage on Aug. 29 with a full light show and special guests Newvices.
Clear Pioneer are: Grant Clementi, Jesse Carl and Kyler Schmor.
