There's nothing like a little yacht rock to soothe the nerves after a difficult year. Milwaukee's premier soft-rock cover band The Docksiders will host a New Year's Eve benefit livestream from Turner Hall Ballroom on Dec. 31 to assist Milwaukee venues, artists and stagehands who have been hit by the pandemic.
The stream will start at 9 p.m. and will also feature performances by BoDeans, Shonn Hinton & Shotgun, B-Free and Quinten Farr and Rocket Cat.
“With live music venues and musicians unable to perform this New Year’s Eve, here’s the perfect way to help them return next year and celebrate the end of the dumpster fire that was 2020,” said event organizer and Docksiders leader Kevin Sucher, who is also Radio Milwaukee's executive director.
Tickets are $20 and proceeds and donations will be split between the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), which will distribute funds to local venues, and Imagine MKE's Holiday Artist Relief Fund, which is providing grants to Milwaukee performers.
“Milwaukee venues were first the businesses to close and will be the last to reopen,” said Pabst Theater Group CEO Gary Witt, a founder of NIVA. “Their return is critical to Milwaukee’s economic success.”
