Summerfest has come and gone, but you may be fixing for more live outdoor music.
Fortunately, we still have two more months (at least) of warm weather to enjoy here in Milwaukee. And one of the city’s finest traditions is grabbing a blanket or lawn chair and cozying up to take in some live tunes on a summer evening.
There are larger concert series, like Bay View’s Chill on the Hill and East Town’s Jazz in the Park, which run all the way through Aug. 30 and Sept. 29, respectively. But there are plenty of other neighborhood music series and festivals throughout the city.
Here are five more to check out before summer’s over:
Music in the Park
Spend your Wednesdays by the lake in July and August at this blossoming music series in Lake Park. Circle Aug. 1 on the calendar, as rising-star duo SistaStrings return to their native Milwaukee after a tour that included a few national TV appearances earlier this year.
When: July 11-Aug. 29
Washington Park Wednesdays
This music series presents a variety of genres — including jazz, Latin, R&B and more — at the Washington Park bandshell. Aside from the music, there’s plenty of activities for the whole family.
When: July 13-Aug. 31
Skyline Music Series
There may not be a better view of Milwaukee than from Kilbourn-Kadish Park in Riverwest. Take in the sights and sounds at the Selig-Joseph-Folz Amphitheater every Tuesday on the hill.
When: July 12-Aug. 23
Música del Lago
It’s a party under the lights at Colectivo’s Lakefront location every other Thursday. Dance along with the Latin music, and enjoy the café’s food and drink menu, plus a selection of beer.
When: June 9-Aug. 18
Brady Street Festival
The popular one-day East Side festival returns after a two-year hiatus. Several familiar Milwaukee musical artists will take the stage, including indie-pop group GGOOLLDD, soul group No Seatbelts, rapper NilexNile and more.
When: Saturday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to midnight
