Charly Bliss announce tour, including a stop at X-Ray Arcade

X-Ray Arcade

My first conversation about Charly Bliss with another human being probably went like a lot of people’s. And by that I mean it included some version of this phrase:

“I know that voice shouldn’t work, but holy cow does that voice work.”

The voice in question belongs to the inimitable Eva Hendricks, who will bounce it off the walls of X-Ray Arcade when Charly Bliss visits Cudahy on Sept. 14. The show falls toward the beginning of the band’s just-announced North American tour that starts in our nation’s capital Sept. 5 and wraps up a little more than a month later in Philadelphia on Oct. 10.

A few weeks ago, Charly Bliss revealed their plans for new album FOREVER, which will be out Aug. 16, and shared piano ballad-y lead single “Nineteen.” Along with today’s concert news came another album track, the significantly sprightlier “Calling You Out,” as well as a music video inspired by the Beastie Boys’ “Shake Your Rump” and the 1995 film Fallen Angels.

Song-wise, “Calling You Out” sprung from Hendricks’ personal life and her desire to avoid some of the pitfalls she tumbled into previously. “I didn’t know how to not fall into the same bullshit that was part of all my previous relationships — namely jealousy,” she said in a statement. “I wasted a lot of time at the beginning trying to poke holes, to see if it was all for real. I think I was trying to protect myself: I’ll find the catch before the catch finds me! But there was no catch.”

You can listen to “Calling You Out” below while you learn more about your ticket options, which kicked off today with an artist presale you can access by signing up for the band’s mailing list. The general sale starts at 10 a.m. tomorrow, May 31, via the show page on X-Ray Arcade’s website.
