Chicago is coming to Milwaukee as part of Summerfest 2025

Milwaukee World Festival

Summerfest is creeping up on the halfway point of its BMO Pavilion headliner bookings and on Monday announced another member of that stage’s lineup for next year’s festival: classic rock band Chicago, who will be here July 4.

With their addition, four of the BMO Pavilion’s nine days are now spoken for. The other previously announced acts are The Avett Brothers on June 26, Cake on June 27 and Riley Green on June 28.

Chicago has remained consistently busy since releasing their 1969 debut album and in 2022 shared their 38th studio LP, Born for This Moment. Earlier this year, they put out a new live album, Chicago at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which captured a 26-song set performed in 1971 by the band’s original lineup.

A 2016 inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Chicago still boasts three of their founding members in the current lineup: Robert Lamm (keyboards, vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet, vocals) and James Pankow (trombone). Backed by a stable of talented musicians, they’ll mark their 57th consecutive year of touring with a series of dates that includes the Fourth of July show in Milwaukee.

Like the other BMO Pavilion concerts, this one will offer reserved seating available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. this Friday, Dec. 13, via Ticketmaster and in person at the Summerfest Box Office. Free general-admission seating will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the show.
