Listen to the Studio:Milwaukee session with Benjamin Booker

This past Friday, Benjamin Booker concluded our "Vinyl Four" series with music and conversation.

Listen to the session in the player above.

Booker, a young New Orleans' based singer-songwriter, is described as “a well-mixed musical cocktail of punk, folk, and New Orleans blues.”

He cites his influences as The Gun Club, Blind Willie Johnson, and T. Rex.

Benjamin’s self-titled debut album, produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff) is out now on ATO Records.

When Benjamin Booker played Lollapalooza, Rolling Stone named him the weekend’s Best Rock Star Moment, saying “though Lollapalooza is always filled with countless rock acts, Booker may have been the strongest and most refreshing."

When he played Newport Folk Fest, Billboard named him the second best performance of the entire event. It described his set as “tight" and "raucous."  When he toured opening for Jack White, Jack brought him back out during his own set for a show-closing guitar duel.
